CORPORATE WORDS WEDNESDAY 4/26/17

I hope that, one day, there is a law passed to eliminate the use of corporate jargon given the impact on the environment. It is clearly a pollutant. If you think that is going too far,then consider this little nugget:

“We want to allow you to extract more value from XYZ”

I heard this on one of my last ever conference calls with a mutual fund company. It was said with such ferocity that I will never forget it. The reality is that they want you to use their website because, once you click on a link for an article, you unknowingly unleash a series of marketing efforts directed at you. Are you doing me a favor by flooding my inbox with emails about emerging market debt and local currency concerns??

“Extract more value”…..that’s a Hall of Fame candidate.
