President Trump revealed the framework for the long awaited tax overhaul yesterday. The presentation was ripe with enthusiasm but somewhat short on details. Trump is often compared to President Reagan. They were both faced with similar obstacles and foes but their styles are distinctly different.
One of the differences between the two men noted recently was that Ronald Reagan would undertake significant study before proposing or opposing any type of legislation or policy decision. If you viewed yesterday’s press conference, it is apparent that President Trump doesn’t have the same devotion to the finer details. That’s not a criticism, just an observation. That’s part of who he is and who he has become.
I think that what President Trump demonstrated yesterday is that he is an entrepreneur, first and foremost. An entrepreneur is more likely to make large plans and then have faith that “things will come together”. They are also willing to roll up their sleeves and get involved. Entrepreneurs don’t just stand around and watch things happen.
President Reagan accomplished a great deal in his time in office and I think that Trump will too. He may be unconventional in his approach but that is turning out to be a refreshing change from the status quo huggers of the last administration. A person with the determination and drive that Trump has is our best hope at “Making America Great Again”, like him or not. Look at it like this: if a person like President Trump can not affect change, who can?
